matt grew up in st. louis at his father's church. his cousin played drums — they wouldn't let him touch the kit yet, so he went and found the rhythm anyway. concert band. drumline. bass guitar. bands around the city.

in 2020 he joined sidechain society and started his llc. that same year he began learning to code.

two years later: the journey — a 56-track autobiographical album about addiction, denial, and what it takes to actually come out the other side. not a concept album. a document.

in 2024, shoot the j — every track title is real ruby or sql syntax. validates :love, presence: true. code became another language for the same questions he'd always been asking.

matt grew up in st. louis, in the church. his dad was a minister. his cousin played the drums — they wouldn't let him on the kit yet. so he went and got the rhythm anyway. concert band. drumline. church drummer. bass guitar. bands around the city.

he came to production through the body. he already knew how music felt before he ever touched the sp‑404 a.

in 2020 he joined sidechain society, founded matthew jamison music llc, and started learning to code. the pivot wasn't a decision to stop being a musician.

in january 2022, the journey. fifty-six tracks. thirteen instrumentals. forty-three spoken commentary chapters — self-medication, trauma, denial, meditation, acceptance. the description: "this is a culmination of my life experiences up to this point. my goal is to highlight the human experience and notate the stages of what i have come to understand through growth."

in 2024, shoot the j. every track title is actual ruby, rails, or sql syntax: validates :love, presence: true. love.nil?. his daughter nadi sang on "jelly asparaguys." this isn't a gimmick — it's someone who now thinks in two languages and uses both.

drums first. then bass. years of actually playing before the sp-404 a. the samples are from gospel records mostly. whatever was on when something happened that needed to be held onto. the sp-404 a has no undo. no screen. you make the call and live with it. that's the whole workflow. "inspiration is not just something you admire. it's something you answer. and answering it requires something simple, but hard: you gotta be quiet long enough to let it in." // still being formed.
